Every year around this time, I hear the same question: “Do homes actually sell during the holidays?” The quick answer? Yes, they do. And not only that, they often sell at good prices. Let me explain why.

The common myth about holiday sales. Many people think that listing a home during the holidays is a waste of time. They believe buyers disappear, demand drops, and homes sit unsold. On top of that, they think any sales will come with steep price cuts. But that’s not the reality. The numbers tell a different story.

Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s in 2023, there were 325 new homes hit the market, and around 964 homes went under contract. That’s nearly three homes selling for every new listing.
